Water is a valuable asset and the decision to sell water temporarily (allocation trade) or permanently (entitlement trade) is entirely up to each customer.
As the owner of the bulk water licence, WMI is party to all transactions undertaken by WMI customers and so places some conditions on the transfer process.

Water may be bought or sold internally (between WMI customers) or externally (non-WMI customers).

Delivery entitlements may also be traded internally (between WMI customers in the same irrigation area) throughout the year.
