Western Murray Irrigation current projects
Back up power generation
This project is being considered for all main pump stations to ensure the deliverability of water during potential power outages during peak demand (summer).
A diesel-powered generator was successfully commissioned in January 2018 at the Curlwaa Pump Station.
Diesel-powered generators were successfully commissioned in September 2019 at the Coomealla Pump Station.
A generator requiring noise pollution mitigation is being considered for the Buronga Pump Station.
Alternate power generation
A solar prefeasibility study was conducted in 2016 which concluded that solar panels were feasible for the Curlwwa pump station only.
Western Murray Irrigation is currently investigating the installation of rooftop-mounted solar panels for that station.
