Western Murray Irrigation current projects
Western Murray Irrigation is currently planning to upgrade its aging meter fleet and install telemetry to create smart meters.
This will allow meters to be read online at any time (within the parameters of the equipment and technology)
Back up power generation
This project is being considered for all main pump stations to ensure the deliverability of water during potential power outages during peak demand (summer).
A diesel-powered generator was successfully commissioned in January 2018 at the Curlwaa Pump Station.
Alternate power generation
A solar prefeasibility study was conducted in 2016 which concluded that solar panels were feasible for the Curlwwa pump station only.
Western Murray Irrigation is currently investigating the installation of rooftop-mounted solar panels for that station.
